Technology does not have to feel confusing, intimidating, or out of reach. This week, we are doing something a little different and talking about why helping people understand technology has always mattered to me.
Instead of focusing on one specific tech tip, this post shares the story behind these videos, why plain-English tech help is so important, and why no one should feel embarrassed for asking basic technology questions.
Technology should be a tool that helps solve real problems, not something that makes people feel embarrassed, overwhelmed, or left behind.
The goal of these videos is simple: explain everyday technology in plain English, help people stay safer, and build confidence one step at a time.
I have always been the person people came to when technology felt confusing or frustrating. This week is about sharing a little more about who I am, why I care about helping people, and why making tech feel less intimidating has always mattered to me.
My father asked me how I wanted to give back and help people, and it really made me stop and think. The more I thought about it, the more I realized I had already been doing that in my own way for years: using technology to solve problems, make things easier, and help people feel less stuck.
I have been helping people with computers for about as long as I can remember. Even back in first grade, my teacher asked me to help with a computer problem, and that always stuck with me because it showed me early on that knowing how to do something means more when you can use it to help someone else.
A lot of people feel like technology is moving too fast, or like they should already know how everything works. My goal is to explain things in plain English so people feel more comfortable, more confident, and less embarrassed when they need help.
Whether I was learning sound editing for high school theater, building a sound effect database, or creating tools to help manage these videos, I have always used technology to make problems easier to handle. To me, that is one of the best uses of any skill: finding a way to help.
A lot of people feel embarrassed because they think they are supposed to already know how everything works. But most people were never formally taught how to manage passwords, avoid scams, fix phone problems, use cloud storage, or understand online safety. Asking for help is not a failure. It is how people learn.
Start by explaining what you were trying to do, what device or app you were using, and what happened. If possible, take a screenshot of the message or problem, but avoid sharing passwords, banking details, security codes, or personal information unless you are working with someone you fully trust.
Start small. Pick one thing you use often, like email, texting, passwords, photos, or your phone settings, and learn a little more about that first. You do not need to understand everything at once. Confidence comes from learning one useful step at a time.
Be extra careful if the problem involves money, passwords, security codes, banking, account access, or a pop-up claiming your device is infected. Those are situations where scammers often try to scare people into clicking, calling, paying, or sharing private information. When in doubt, stop and ask someone trusted before taking action.
The goal is to make everyday technology easier to understand. These videos are meant to explain things clearly, slow down the confusing parts, point out common mistakes, and help people feel more confident using the technology that has become part of daily life.
You do not have to understand every technical term or solve every problem by yourself. The goal of our weekly technology videos is to help everyday people feel more comfortable using the devices, websites, apps, and online services that have become part of daily life.

Technology should work for you, not make your life harder. You do not have to know everything, and you should not feel embarrassed for asking questions.
Start with the basics, slow down when something feels confusing, and remember that the best use of technology is helping people solve real problems.
